Pitt Athletics surpasses 100-plus members to The Script Society

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh Athletics department has surpassed an unprecedented milestone in athletic philanthropy, securing commitments from more than 100 donors in The Script Society.

Established in 2020, The Script Society is the exclusive philanthropic giving society for Pitt Athletics. This group of generous and committed donors provide critical financial support for our student-athletes, band and spirit squad members, helping enhance their experience at Pitt through philanthropy.

Individuals are recognized as members of The Script Society following a minimum five-year, $50,000 commitment to Pitt Athletics. Ten percent of The Script Society commitments go to the Student-Athlete Success Fund, which helps with leadership development, student-athlete wellness, scholarships, new technology and academic support. This establishes that all donors share a common goal to build support for all Pitt student-athletes.

“The Script Society is committed to ensuring our student-athletes have sustained success on the field and in the classroom,” said Director of Athletics Heather Lyke. “The kindness and commitment from our Script Society donors enhances a wide-range of initiatives that directly impact the student-athlete experience, while helping us achieve our goals of ACC and national excellence.”

Along with the Student-Athlete Success Fund, members can choose to designate their donations to the Victory Heights campaign, scholarships or team-specific championship funds.

While the program is philanthropic in nature, members enjoy unique stewardship opportunities and deeper, more meaningful engagement with Pitt Athletics through priority points incentives, exclusive experiences, event invitations and premium access to athletic administrators, coaches and student-athletes.

The Script Society is one of several ongoing initiatives within the Pitt Panther Club, the fundraising arm of Pitt Athletics. The department is in the midst of raising funds for the Victory Heights project, as well as stewarding donors for championship funds, the Cathy & John Pelusi Life Skills Program, Leadership Giving and more.
